Who are your Residents First MUD candidates?

We are your friends, your neighbors and sometimes your opponents in a local pickleball tournament. We have parents, spouses, kids and grandkids all living here in The Woodlands. We are working or retired or some of both. Our work experiences range from engineering to finance, from nursing to community water operations, from commercial real estate to the US Air Force. What we share is our passion for ensuring that ALL Woodlands residents are treated fairly in their access to affordable and dependable water services.

Our Residents First Near-Term Goals

Despite our recent accomplishments, your Residents First Directors need your support to continue providing the water services you deserve. Voting for our slate of pro-resident MUD Director candidates will help us to honor our commitments to you.

In the near term, we will be focused on accomplishing the following goals:

  • Protect our long-term freshwater supplies by maximizing the use of surface water and closely monitoring the health of our water supply wells.
  • Replace the necessary water transmission lines and continue testing the aging lines to ensure our condition-based replacement program is effective and efficient.
  • Use a detailed technical testing and analyses program to cost effectively repair or replace our oldest wastewater treatment plant (WWTF #1).
  • Refurbish the Bear Branch Dam to modern standards.
  • Mitigate ground subsidence by increasing our use of surface water from Lake Conroe.

Our Residents First Accomplishments

Although outnumbered, your current Residents First MUD Directors have delivered on previous campaign promises. By requiring thorough, technical evaluations of our aging facilities, your pro-resident Directors have reduced your future out-of-pocket costs.

Major savings to you include:

  •  Saved $100+ million by preventing premature water line replacements over the next 10 years. Instead of accepting an age-based replacement of ALL asbestos-cement (AC) pipelines, your Resident First MUD Directors demanded physical testing and analyses of the lines. The test results determined that most of the AC pipes did not need to be replaced in the next 10 years. Instead, only limited portions needed to be replaced, and a thorough and efficient condition-based program of pipeline replacement will be used going forward.
  •  Saved $40 million by cancelling a premature engineering study to fully replace our Wastewater Treatment Facility #1 (WWTF #1). Realizing that the facility’s infrastructure had not been adequately sampled and tested, your pro-resident Directors engaged experts to explore more cost-effective solutions for that aging wastewater treatment plant. Detailed analyses are currently in progress.
  •  Lowered your daily water costs by driving increases in the throughput at SJRA’s surface water plant on Lake Conroe. By improving the plant’s efficiency, unit raw water costs have decreased which saves you money today and in the future.

Our Residents First Commitments to You

As your Residents First candidates, we are pledged to placing our residents at the front of all our activities and decision making. We are here for you.

Our commitments to you include:

  • Delivering affordable and dependable water services including fresh water supply, wastewater treatment and stormwater handling.
  • Applying a business mindset to our decision making.
  • Ensuring total transparency by recording our monthly meetings, communicating with our residents and, when needed, engaging with our residents about significant capital projects, and potential water services or tax increases.
  • Providing ethical leadership by committing to fair dealing and adherence to applicable federal and state regulations and all Woodlands Water policies.
